I've advertised for an extra pair of hands now for months. I have 3 horses and just need a hacking buddy and someone to be on the ground whilst I am working my newly broken stallion. No chores, just riding my dead steady sports horse, or ex grade-A showjumper. I have had zero interest despite offering the opportunity to compete come summer :(

Is anyone else in the same boat? When I was a teenager I would have killed for the opportunity I am offering...
 
Ive had my boy (whos fab!) up for part loan for months with no intrest and as with you, no chores and chance to compete. Im also extremely flexible on days and times :( im putting it down to the time of year although cant help but feel if we were offering ploddy cobs we would have more intrest? (i have a waiting list for my cob, in the unlikely event he ever comes back from his full loaner)
i am in tricky area for non drivers though and my boy is more of a teenagers ride
 
Maybe it's the way you have advertised or where you are advertising

I wouldn't call that a loan personally. I think you are possibly under selling that. you don't want people to volunteer for that you almost want to pick and choose the lucky person! Sell it as 'an amazing opportunity for someone' and put the word about at local PC and riding clubs, there must be many talented but horse-less people about it's just finding them!
 
Yep I have had to find loaners twice due to two pregnancies for my 'fairly bombproof schoolmasterly all-round good egg' gelding. Really struggled - couldn't find adults - and both times ended up with teenagers who initially were keen then gave up when they realised horses involve hard work and non-schoolies DO have a mind of their own so falling off occasionally does actually happen to you...
Ah well!
 
I'd kill for something like what you're offering :(
It seems like where I am, finding a good loan or share is like gold dust - with all my studying I don't have time to keep my own but would love to loan again. However all the offered loans are really far away..
Hope you find someone soon!
 
Agree with WelshD, maybe it's he way you're wording it?

I was looking for a sharer for my boy, but he's not an easy horse to find someone for (big & spooky!) but had quite a bit of interest from a local fb page. Found the right person quite easily, but yes a lot of responders were young/teenagers. Luckily you need to drive to get to our yard, so that put a lot of the young ones off.
 
Im another with one advertised - who was bought for my mum to relearn on and enjoy in her retirement so pretty steady but like has been said does have a mind of her own.

Ive had one girl come to try her who told me she was an experienced rider who had had a couple of years out. She got on and was wandering about aimlessly, I suggested she had a trot after a bit of watching this, she managed a few strides then the horse looked at something in the tree, took two steps inwards and she bashed down on the back of the saddle, gobbed the poor horse who took fright and cantered ten strides to me at which point the girl fell off. Poor horse was so frightened :( took me ages to calm her down. All this was after my 13 year ld sunday helper had been schooling her for 40 mins grr

Iv had a couple more replies but am so wary of letting someone else on her :(
