A bit pointless.....

Went to pony last night and thought I'll go on a short hack as it looked like it would rain. As I was tacking up, I thought I'll do our hack backwards (by that I mean the opp way round we usaly do not walk backwards lol:D)

So of we set, when I went the "wrong" way my lad looked and then carried on, we did LOADS of walk, trot and did some bending as we went.

All was fine untill we turned down the bridle path. Where there was 2 MASIVE pick ups replacing the BT poles:eek:, where was a drill bit that was about 6 foot long and 2 foot wide on the back of one that they were moving around in the air!!! A cherry picker with a bloke in it bangging and crashing, poles flying round everything!!!
Well the first thing I thought was brill, something different to go look at. So carried on, stopped and talked to the workmen, and pony never batted an eye lid. As I was talking to the workmen I saw there was just enough room to get round the trucks if I got off so I did!!:D

I started to lead him around the side and we got so close and he pulled backwards and planted his feet. I gave him a pat and told him it was ok, the workman then turned his pick up off. So I tried agian.......... King walked passed as if there was nothing there!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D The gap was that narrow he was half in the bushes!! We then got to the second one the cherry picker and again he plodded passed like there was nothing there!!!:D:D:D

I said thank you and got back on then carried on back home, with a face that looked a little like this...:D. Oh yeah my baby is only 5 years old, I LOVE HIM soooooooooooooooo much!! He's worth his weight in gold.

YES! your horse if definately worth more than his weight in gold, wotta darling to be so good with all these horrid spooks around.

I was blessed with a pony like this when I was a kid; he was a 5 yo; I was just 13 - the prophets of doom said it was an accident waiting to happen. At our first pony club event (paperchase over open ground) he behaved abysmally; the second event he was superb and was like that evermore. We used to have to hack past a working quarry - they had this big gantry thingy over the road which used to convey stones (dripping with water) to a big crushing thing like an oversized washing machine which had steam coming out of it and every so often the whole shaboodle (wouldn't be allowed now!!) would jam up and shake and all this gravel and muddy water stuff would spew down on the road and if you were underneath you'd get all mucky. Oh, and while all this was going on (deafening noise) you'd get mega-huge yellow digger things puffing and grunting plus quarry-lorry dumper things going back and forth.

I had so many people offer me ridiculous sums for my little grey pony, but I wouldn't ever have parted with him - not for a trillion pounds. What a little darling.

The one I've got now is pretty good too: we have to hack out on land where the military train and a few months ago they were on a training exercise with soldiers creeping around in the undergrowth (scarey); then this huge helicopter flew right over us, very low indeed and making a helluva noise, and he just flicked an ear and plodded on regardless. Bless him, wotta star.

Horses like this are so hard to find: you (and I) have got "the horse in a million" - aren't we so lucky.

We knew my Sisters ex-racer was bombproof when he never blinked in a narrow lane with two working combine harvesters either side of him. Both were within 15ft but Mac just took it all in his stride. Now my welsh cob on the other hand totally freaked at a crisp packet lol.

Hmmmmmm *wonders if Picolenicole would noticed if i swapped my spooky scaredy 12 year old skewbald for her lovely calm and willing 5yr old!!*

:-D

Thanks guys, it is brill when you have such a good horse/pony.

Benson21 you'll find one soon I sure.

Skychick If yours get's as muddy as mine then probable easy to swap, I'll know where to come looking if he changes colour one day. :D

Muddy.....sometimes when he comes in from the field i wonder if i own a bay!.....and then it rains and the mud slides off and i realise that actually there is some white under there somewhere!!!
*waits for some rain and some real mud to appear and books the horse lorry for a trip to picolenicoles field* :-D

Ahh what a sweety he is.
Skychick you can't have him.

Not if i get there first :p ;) :D
I'm shore you would love to swap for Herbie wouldn't you picolenicole? ;):D:D

Brilliant! What a lovely pony! I came across the exact same thing the other day when out walking my 3 yr old sec d in hand through a big open field, there was a digger, pick ups tractors and two massive lorries and workmen everywhere! We had to walk right by and she hardly even looked! Ok admittedly we did have my brother with us who was riding his gigantacob along with us bareback but i was still super pleased with the big black one! :-)

There's nothing like galloping down a field, only to encounter the entire British Army hiding in the bushes at the other end!

LOL He def sounds like a keeper to me. :( :( ;) :D :D
Hope you have lots of fun with him. I'll just dream of having a nice well behaved pony then if you won't let me have him you meany :p :D

Laura if you lived near me I would snap your hand off to come share him with me!! I played your vid of Herbie to my OH and he said what a nice pony he's turning into. OH is not that horsey and really was impressed with how Herbie is coming along and said if he ever knew a pony that needed rescue and sorting properly he would email you!!

Ahhh thank you, you are to kind. I saw an ad the other day that said if you can catch the pony you can have it. My OH had to get rid of the ad quickly so i didn't know the number :( I wish i had room for more ponies then i could help them all.
