I passed my Riding and Road saftey badge at Pony Club today, which also means I have passed my C test!
Toto was very good, but at the end everyone decided to go for a fast canter down the field. I decided not to, as Toto can get strong and I didn't really wanted to be bolted off with
So, I had a little trot in the other direction, then turned round and had a little canter, he was good, but could gradually feel him speeding up, but stopped him fine. Then, the rest of the riders came back and decided we would all go down to the little river for a splash with the ponies. I went too, on the way down there two people cantered past, Toto danced a bit but I held him. He danced a bit more down at the river, but calmed down. We all headed back up the field, and one girl asked if I'd go on a steady canter to see if I could stop. We trotted, but I could tell I wouldn't be able to hold him if we cantered. So, the girl and the others went on another canter while I walked. Toto danced about again, but I made him walk. All of a sudden, he decided he didn't want to walk, oh no, he wanted to gallop, and he shot off like a rocket, bolted past the others and I couldn't stop or steer
I did turn him in a vague circle though, he slowed down and then bolted off again. In the end I had to resort to turning his head sharply and he stopped
Not even sure why he did it, he was walking fine one second then next second he was tanking along. Oh well
So I punished him by making him all pretty (well, handsome) when we got back to the yard, I pulled his mane, trimmed his tail and sprayed them with de-tangler, and tomorrow I'm going to sort out his feathers, all ready for show season
