Hi guys,
***warning self indulgent***
Just wanted to let you know the test went really well and I passed with flying colours

- only got 3 minors (2 for not checking my mirrors before signalling

and 1 for speeding!

). So im very happy after everything ive heard about it was really bad and it was really hard to pass.
The examiner was really nice and talked to me all the way through my 50min drive out on the roads of Sheffield.
Found out that not only was he an examiner, but the chief examiner of Sheffield LGV!!

He was really nice to me and he told me that hed taken quite a few well knowns people for their test - namely Pippa Funnel and Richard Dunwoodys wife/daughter (obviously before he moved to Sheffield)

So im a fully fledged driver who can tow a trailer!

So very happy with myself (sorry) but it means I can go off to do things on my own now, without having to arrange lessons, vet appointments with my mum as chaparone.

Thanks guys for all your positive vibes and good luck - it worked!

get it booked lzt - then youve got something to strive for. I kept putting mine off again and a gain cos I was worried I wouldnt pass it.

It wasnt that bad at all. My legs were shaking like mad for the left hand reverse but thank god I drove in an automatic so didnt have to worry about clutch control!

Im sure youll be fine but ask away

Did you have 'proper' lessons, or just practice?

I need to get a trailer before I can book a test! Once I find a new job I'll be able to use my redundancy money for one, but not until then!

It's my incentive to get a new job as quickly as possible!!!!!!!!!

well kinda. Id been driving for a little while on "L" plates then mum has a client who she trains NVQs for who teach people HGV driving and they said theyd help us out on the trailer.
I had an assessment of about 2hrs then he said 1 full day would probably do. So ended up having one 4hr session a few weeks agoa and a 2hr session the week before my test.

Best thing is lots of practice. I was driving to the vets and competitions with my girls to help me out.

Sounds like youre going to have fun trailer hunting then!

congrats - very well done
and with a chief examiner you'd have been well 'inspected' - so even better that you passed
