Your horse must be in a snaffle bit, no martingale. Noseband can be a cavesson, flash or drop. Saddle doesn't matter. Saddlecloth must be a conservative colour. You can wear boots and chaps so long as they are matching and a dark colour, and without fringes etc. You must wear gloves.

You'll be fine! Smile at the judge, sit up straight and enjoy it.

Hi, firstly good luck

You should wear either beige or white jods, shirt with either a stock and pin or just the plain collar, balck/navy jacket, black boots (chaps and boots are aloud as long as they are the same colour and non-paterned). Black/navy riding hat and if you have long hair a hair net or tie it up in a bun.

Your horse should have a plain coloured saddle cloth (white is preferable) and you can not compete your horse in boots (but you can warm up in them). No martingale. Dressage legal bit only. Your horse should be plaited (not necessarily compulsory but most people plait thier horses manes). You will also need a number marker which attaches to the bridle.

When you get there you need to declare (normally just put a tick by your name) and ind out your bridle number and leave yourself enough time to warm up.

Once your time is close you should be called in, you can start trotting/walking around the outside of the arena and once the bell rings you have 45 seconds (I think) to start.

Oh and always give the judge a nice big smile

I did my first test last month and going to do another next sunday (20th). The very fact that I'm entering again just shows how much I enjoyed myself and how much I learned. (Probably the biggest thing I learnt was how much I don't know!)
The show I was at was a really friendly one and everyone was really helpful - I actually came 2nd!
Good luck and don't be afraid to ask for help with anything you don't know, most people will be friendly and helpful I'm sure.

BD rule book says no chaps and so do riding clubs so depends how strict the unaffiliated places enforce the rules. gaiters are different from chaps. chaps have side zips and are usually suede (suede is a big no no), gaiters have zips at the back and are leather.

Exactly what I've been told. I know my RC at least frowns upon half chaps a LOT (fear the chairlady's frowns!!!

if it is an unaffiliated show which i would think it is you dont need a bridle number and ive never had to declare yet !.
give yourself plenty of time and if poss watch a few fellow competitors do their test.

usually they call you name out in order on the warm up arena then you go in.
definatley dont forget your gloves
and to smile !!

You won't need a number marker for your bridle, you will be given a number & a piece of tape to fasten it around your waist. Nothing else to add really.....just smile, relax & enjoy.

THANKS SOOO MUCH GUYS THAT IS SO REASURING AND NOW I KNOW WHAT I CAN WEAR AND NOT TO THANK YOU EVERYONE
