I went to watch the jumping lesson today, as I usually do on a monday afternoon. YO asked if I wanted to jump Ned, but I politely declined. The school is quite small and with all the other horses, it blows his mind, I don't have fun and neither does he.
She said I have to stop wimping out and while she wouldn't make me go on Ned, I had to go on something.
I umm'd and ahh'd.
"Can I ride Ziggy?"
I got my wish
Ziggy is a sweet, little 14.2hh, 6yo welsh type.
He's so honest, I took him into the jump badly, but he saved the both of us and jumped it beautifully
We got up to 3ft and it was a spread
It was quite a nice feeling to have a horse who doesn't cart you off up the school, bunny hopping and generally being a git. He's steady, but fizzy enough to be fun
Thoroughly enjoyed myself
(ignore his porky look! This is rather an old picture when he wasn't worked as much)
And just because he was such a cutie as a youngster!
