I didnt really have a chance to do an update before now.
I posted this on Saturday http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=397919

I had a text at the last minute Sunday asking if it was ok if another friend came out with us but it would be an hour later.

I drove up to the farm in the afternoon as it started t pour with rain and thought uh oh it'll just be a visit then.

I got there and lady who now has him as a companion for her horse had just brought them both in and I could just see a brown nose poking out from his Fly Rug.

Friend turned up 2 mins later and after we had groomed and tacked up we went out for our pootle. A few things surprised me. I just wanted to lie down in his bed of straw and gaze at him and the other was I never knew horses had a unique smell before.

When I gave him a cuddle immediatly it was Gully smell.

We were out for quite a while walking mostly a few little bits of trot it was wonderful although I will be honest when he got a bit on his toes crossing a field I wanted to bale out. Old memories of being bucked off by the young usurper.

I would have loved to be able to canter around and jump some logs but at least he is sound enough to go out for a little jolly with his friends.

And now I know I am really wierd if you could bottle up 'Eau De Gulliver" I would put it on my pillow at night but I think OH might object to Gully Whiff!

Still he has a lovely home gets looked after and give it a few weeks I may well toddle up there for another Gully pootle.

ahh thats so nice! He sounds like he is having a lovely retirement and great that you can still visit etc.

I must admit that I love the smell of my horse - nothing so settling and reassuring as burying my nose in her warm neck and taking a big deep lungful, just wipes the days troubles away.
