Some of you may know that I have been off since the middle of August with a back injury (still unknown!), and apart from a cheeky days cubbing at the beginning of September - for which I paid dearly! - I haven't ridden since then.

Well over this last week my back seems to have settled down so the horses came in last night and today I got back on the big girl :D:D:D

I was so pleased with her, she hasn't been ridden for 3 months and she was as good as gold - not bad for an ex racer! Took her out on a hack with my new sharer for Olly and my YM and apart from a few 'bouncy' strides of unplanned canter up the hill she was as good as gold! As the hack was only short I took her in the school for some light schooling in walk and she gave me the beginnings of an outline and some baby shoulder in :D

Love my big TB moose!

Well I had intended to just walk but we are a bit naughty and do our fast work up the hill - so both Olly and the YM's pony buggered off!

Really pleased for you! It's a great feeling to be back on board after a while off isn't it. No wonder you are feeling so good!

Great news, well done you and well done big mare for looking after you! Just make sure you follow up with nice hot baths and look after that back, and try not to rush into too much too soon, although we all know how hard that is !!!

Ex Racers - keep giving them a wonderful write - up! They are broken in by professionals - they don't need riding everyday - they have seen most things - are generally 100% in traffic - and are ridden (as I have discovered) from the bravest to the most inexperienced. I have just bought a relatively nervous child (who had the pony from hell, who all but put him off riding for ever) a 7 year old ex racer - who he took on a fun ride a week ago and had a wonderful time - the horse has the most gentle mouth (snaffle) and is so glad to be out of a racing yard and having fun (that is not to have a downer on racing yards - but the lads - are well, mostly lads...........) This little horse, just loves having a sympathetic rider, who has his reins as washing lines (gulp) but the little horse just loves it.....The same animal also jumps for fun, being placed at its first Hunter Trial of 35 starters - 6th, clear..... with older sister who is more experienced, but was only riding this horse for the 2nd time - and has not ridden competitively for 5 years......What did I pay for this paragon - £400 at the Ascot sales.........My god he is good looking as well.........Hear it for those wonderful animals!!

I feel fantastic! Missed all the cubbing this year but still good to be back in the saddle

Yes have done! I have shares in Radox these days :D

WHOOO :D:D hope it continues and you have some fun with your girl, she sounds like a sweetie.

She is a total darling, love her to bits - I think she is well on her way to being my second failed project!

My physio recommends riding so you're not being that naughty ;)

Mine is very anti riding so no doubt will have my wrists slapped on Monday... ah well!

YAY!!! Like Like Like!!! Brilliant hun. Baby steps tho! :) xx

No worries, she has had most of this year off with various things so is nowhere near fit. Lots of walking and hacking until the weather hits :)

LIKE!!! They are amazing horses, I always believed the stereotype - can't believe how wrong I was :D

Well done, but don't overdo it with a bad back!! Just take baby steps at a time. x
Well that lasted long  I don't suppose baby steps include riding 3 horses in one day and jumping Olly over 2'6"/2'9" and my YM's (very very nice!) connie x NF youngster pony over 3ft do they? oops :D
