Sorry, this is rather self-indulgent.

I finally rode my sisters strapping warmblood today and survived! I've been handling him on the ground for the last four years when my sister was at Uni, so I know him very well. I have also witnessed first hand his stroppy temper tantrums that he's had with my sister under saddle, when he was ridden and competed a few years ago.

He's been off work for 2 years, in the absence of my sister (who has more or less given up riding) but due to having to semi-retire Ted to light hacking, I've decided it's Toby or save up to buy another horse- which I'm not really in the position to do.

So I finally decided to start ride Toby, with the help of my sister teaching me before she moves to London. It was so strange riding Toby as he's 16.1 hh and narrow and Ted's exceptionally wide(for a tb) and 15hh. Toby also bends, it was like riding a banana. I hadn't realised how stiff Ted was. I loved riding Toby his paces are really comfy compared to Ted's show pony trot. I never thought I'd like riding Toby as he can be really unpredictable to ride. I'd never really seen the attraction of riding him despite his gorgeous paces, as he does have an attitude problem but today he was lovely, although he did look shocked that I was on his back!

I just hope I haven't spoken too soon about how lovely he is! Although he is now 10 years old, so I'm hoping he's grown up a bit from when he was a crazy 5 year old.

My lad is a WB too and is 18 but doesn't look or act it at all!! We have a strong bond but he still has days where he refuses to listen to me at all! Some days we have a lovely lesson where he's working properly down on the bit and other days he's having none of it and we have a right arguement!!! Some mornings when I go to the field he calls out to me and comes flying up to the gate, other mornings I have to walk up to him and he turns his back on me and pretends I'm not there!!! He's so funny and I love him to death. Do you know your WB's breeding?

kennedy, who I think was sired by Ferro (he has Ferro blood in him somewhere), and nimerador (sp) on mums side. His KWPN passport is in our lorry which is at garage being MOT'd so can't remeber exactly but know he has those in his bloodlines.

Grandparents paid a lot for him as 3 year old. Unfortunately he has a bit of an attitude and has only now started to act around his age. But he is a real character and has the most ridiculous sense of humour. He's picked my grandpa up by his belt when he was bending down to do some weeding a while back, he also likes to have a hose fight when giving him a shower, he tries to grab the hosepipe with his mouth and get you with the water.
