I'm just getting going again after 8 months off, and went and rode my lad last night.

We were having a gentle potter round the school and I had just thought to myself "I might have a little canter...." and he was off!!! It was a shame, because it was a lovely canter, but I had to bring him back to trot and actually ASK for canter!

I guess I must have unwittingly changed my position, but it was funny.

Mine is very good at reading my mind too. I only have to begin to think that something ahead may make him spook and he immediately stops and looks worried. I am making a real effort lately to stop thinking like that before I turn him into a nervous wreck!

Rose could read my mind all the time, I love that relationship especially when out hacking and you think " this might be a good place for a canter" and off she goes. Not so good doing dressage when you are thinking "I've got to canter at C" and she anticipates!
