I have just finished my week of being a stand in YO, whilst mine was away in Tenerife (lucky cow!) I had the pleasure of looking after her 5 Horses for the whole week! with mine included and the other liveries Horse I had 7 to look after! I made over £70, so will treat Ruby to a lovely new rug and will get a little something for myself too!

I knew it would be time consuming, but blimming heck! Not THAT time consuming! :p I was shattered and slept like a baby every single night! I had to fit it around my full time job, so lots of early mornings and late nights!

It has made me much more grateful to my lovely YO, since she does all 7 every weekday morning, every day, without fail!

I had free rein of her ridden Horses too. I had a lovely jumping session, with the mare I used to share. And also had my sisters OH up to ride (agreed with YO before she left)

It was fun, but I'm ready to hand the yard back over :p You YO's work bloomin hard!!!

What routine are the horses in? £70 for 7 horses for a week doesn't seem much unless they are all out 24/7 and you were just checking they were breathing/no cuts, giving them dinner in the field etc etc. I pay £15 a night for my one dog to go to the dog sitter!!!

I should add my yard owner is a saint - 2 horses of her own, 6 of ours (4 full, 2 part) & she doesn't half get up at some ungodly hour to fit everything in to the day!! Although I do feel jealous when I've seen she's ridden her 2 before I am even home from work or she is there for all the appointments so gets the vets / back mans verdict first hand! Hard graft as ours are in at least part of the day 365 days a year! Plus she puts up with all of us lot turning up at her house & being high maintenance horsey types!!!
I do like to try and help her out when I can - stuffing extra hay nets etc so I don't feel so guilty asking for her help here and there!!

But it probably pays for her horses.... that's what I remind my little mare when she's put out with me seeing all the other horses!

It's a lifestyle not a job, one that I can occasionally grumble about but one that I'd never trade. As other liveries point out, they're jealous because I get to see their horses morning, noon and night. I get to see them play carefree. I get to spend real time with them all being on my doorstep and wouldn't want it any other way.

They were out. I changed rugs, made feeds, fed, hayed, checked for injury etc. Although I did bring in twice, because the weather was horrendos! Although I didn't have to muck out after them, as her non Horsey grandfather did.

Oh thats a bit fairer then! I had visions of you mucking out 7 horses for 7 days for only £10 a day!!!
