Ok maybe not 'life changing' but......

Mucking out, moving muck heaps or old raked up hay goes 10 times faster and is far more efficient if you use a tarp instead of a wheelbarrow.
maybe even 100 times faster :D

Pile it on and drag it where you need it and dump it out. It holds tons more and it far easier to move. No need to even lift a pitch fork higher than an inch. If it gets ratty get a new one...they are only $5 .... here anyway :D

If you have not tried it already please do. I think I'll plant flowers in my wheelbarrow this spring

:D I can bed a stall with shavings in three loads with a tarp rather than about a dozen with a barrow...well, OH can, how do I know this? Because I watched him do it this afternoon, (my shavings get delivered loose, by the ton, in another barn) ;)

I was doing this in the snow!! :D Was bloomin excellent for dragging all the hay and feed down to the field. and then as a bonus I could sit on it and OH could pull me back. :D

good idea, never used a tarp but on old yard we used some of those big builders sacks to drag hay & straw about in, the ones they deliver sand in, huge things with a handle on each corner

You got to watch someone do it? Lucky you! :D

I got a wonderful deal in the fall on bagged shavings from Tractor Supply (do you have Tractor Supply stores in Canada?) I got them for $2.99 a bag when they were on super sale (usually $6). I still have three bags left because I only stable my mini at night and have been using them for my rabbits. I like them bagged because they store better for me but if I had another large shed I would go for loose. They do pack a ton in those bags though.

Handles would be nice! I'd like to find one of those

I used to put twine through the eyelet holes on the tarp corners to make 'handles' but they always ripped out so I just grab each corner in my hand and drag it off. Seems to work alright

Me too:D Hey, when I wreck the tarp and have no more I have been known to use an old bed sheet for hay, doesn't last very long, but when in need........;)

We have TSC, probably the same as your Tractor supply stores, sounds the same. Sells just about anything you can want from plastic farm animals to snowblowers, gates and cowboy hats - if you aren't that fussy about a huge variety (John Deere rules!) Excellent store, I love mine. I can even get turkey poults at the right time of year! They have some crazy sales, the Moonlight Madness one is a 24 hour sale and the parking lot is full of farm trucks and trailers with people buying trailer loads of feed, fence posts etc for pennies:D We got our $2500 log splitter for less than $1000 at one of those!

Woooooooooo, just noticed, if I go on the satellite map on that link I can SEE my house!

Yep TSC that's the store! :D

Don't you just LOVE the stuff they get in at Christmas time? and if you go soon after Christmas they have the best sales. Not too happy about their tiny tack selection though. I think they would be wise to expand that.

Here is our link. I just googled and see that they branched out to Canada in 1966 under TSC. Same company though ;)

I would rather go shopping here than on Rodeo Drive :D

Harrumph, you can buy vaccines off the shelf! Canada hasn't quite reached that stage yet, I can get anti-biotics only.

Agree with the tack selection, not large and not what I buy, but space is limited I guess, woooooooooooo, just checked our tack section, COTTAGE CRAFT! Haven't noticed that before. Christmas stuff is wicked and I am not ashamed to say that in winter I am warmly dressed, head to toe, courtesy of TSC!:D

I use tarpaulin for my hay, as makes less mess then trying to stuff haynets or carry loose or in a wheelbarrow.

May have to get a bigger one for mucking out as I struggle getting wheelbarrow to top of muck heap.

I think i'd stuggle geting a full tarp up the ramp onto the muck trailer but will use for poo picking the field as we just pile this in a corner and going up and down the hill with the barrow does my nut in.

Thank you
