My boy has always been like this too, he's 2 now and very cheeky but nothing phases him and he loves his scratches! Watch her for getting a bit cocky at 2, if she's anything like my monster that 'nothing phases me' attitude can make discipline a challenge lol

Where was the backers hat and body protector and do you not know that a yearling is far to young to back !! He looks lovely and like rides I have one similar which is a blessing and a curse.

I've got one too. He's 3, still entire. We backed him this year, and he's hacking out with child riders as quiet as you like. He has no fear of anything. In a recent incident, there was a firework thrown from a car just around a corner from where we were riding along on a loose rein. Honestly it sounded like a canon being fired, as it was a built up area. He paused for a moment, then pricked up his ears and trotted forward to have a look!
We have found him a little 'cheeky' being led. He's had to be told not to grab sleeves etc. I think if his handler was a floormat his confidence would be a problem, but he's so affectionate he just wants to please, and more than bright enough to work out what isn't acceptable. He's a joy.

OP, you're very lucky. Enjoy.

Penny turner sounds like mine with the cheekiness, he's lovely and does respect me but if I wasn't firm he could be a nightmare! Complete opposite of my old boy who's 18 now, very highly strung and quick, but very sensitive! Yours sounds fab :)

I have pics on my old computer of mine as a yearling wearing hats , food scoops on her head , carrying things up the field for me like wedges of hay etc , she literally was one of those horses that at 3 years old I climbed on and went riding , such an easy horse . I agree babies need to be babies but whilst they are in for feeds or your poo picking it doesn't hurt to do things like this IMO

Thanks for all your lovely comments! Shes currently standing at 14.2/3 wearing a 5'6/5'9 rug. Shes out of a 15.2hh purebred grey arab mare by fuest classico a 16.2 red and white rheinlander stallion by furst piccolo.

Shes so easy to please, she goes to shows like shes been before, and she loves going in the wagon! shes not frightened off much, i think backing will be easy, especially if shes like her mum!! Just a few tantrums if she doesnt want to do something. Shes definately a busy body!! :-D
