Was only saying yesterday that I am finally mended and back in one piece....why oh why did I say such a thing?!

Finger is broken again

Have had a horrible day, made worse by being hailed on at regular intervals. Wont go into details but ended with a lovely incident on a horse that is basically downright evil resulting in finger being dislocated again, didn't realise till I took my gloves off afterwards, then felt slightly sick.

Think it must be weak now as seemed to happen a bit too easily for my liking

Sorry, pointless post but serves me right for saying everything was mended I suppose.

oh no, sounds as if you need to strap the poorly finger to the next one for a few weeks? was evil horse the one who booted you after dumping you the other day? if so, i honestly wouldn't go near the bloody thing again.

hope J was a good boy...

Poor you - you're right about dislocations making the joint weaker! I knew a squash player who had dislocated his shoulder so often that if he coughed or laughed too hard it would pop right out! You could try taping two fingers together when riding and that should stabilise things a bit?

I had only just untaped them, its a pain as its the little finger so taping it to the next one means I no rein finger left

In that case, I'd bend the finger down and tape it round itself, its having any kind of leverage on the end of the finger that would dislocate it again - best if you can avoid it happening again for 3-4 weeks which should give the ligaments time to tighten up again. hope that's helpful, sorry, I can never resist giving medical advice
