His real name is Jorian Van Het Mangelhof which doesn't exactly trip off the tongue to be honest. His stable name is StanTheManWhoCan but mostly we just call him Stan.
I haven't posted a comp report for ages because Rosie does reports on the blog on her webbie and I haven't owned a competing horse since LB departed for pastures new. She and Rosie had a personality clash and although they spent loads of time working hard, it was obviously not going to happen. Neither of them was enjoying themselves so off she went - definitely talented, but some Mill Law babies can be a bit 'difficult' and Rosie had neither the time nor the inclination to persevere any longer.
Stan was bought from Belgium as an unbroken 3 year old and apart from being backed and walked and trotted around a bit hadn't done much since then apart from being loved to bits. Rosie went to try him, fell deeply in love and with a lot of wheedling we got him. He is the sweetest boy, never grumpy and R says he never ever puts his ears back. She has taken it slowly and carefully just hacking and a wee bit of jumping and schooling at home and some proper lessons with trainers on the ground + a couple of XC schooling outings. A couple of weeks ago he did an unaffiliated dressage W&T test locally and came second and at the weekend he did an 80cm BS class on grass. The idea was to see how he coped but he was a superstar, did a DC and won - very proud Mummy
.
He is entered in the smallest class at Ickworth when we get back from our trip to Cornwall - 6th May I think - and he'll maybe go to Gt Witch 2. He won't be 4 until the end of June so he's unlikely to do much else this year but we'll see.
Anyway, here he is
A video of his winning jump off last Sunday (because I'm so proud of him and of Rosie for for doing such a super job with him so far) here.
Thanks for reading if you did. I think there's a little bit of Nigella chocolate guiness cake left but Rosie came to see me earlier so maybe not
