You know sometimes when you're wiating for the farrier and he's late - again -or he's hard to get hold of in your hour of need . I admit i do sometimes think this and have a moan - only to myself mind - but I know in the back of my mind that he's brilliant at his job , well today i think he's a walking marvel and here's why...

My boy has a crack on his front foot from a coronary band injury and on friday managed to rip his shoe off ( Assing around - it wasn't loose) he's really fecked his foot up and some of the hoof was still attached to the shoe!!! Well my brilliant farrier has made him a shoe using the old one which had only been on 2 - 3 weeks max but he's melted on a side clip as well as a toe clip , cleaned it all up , rasped it etc and , apart from the missing chunks , he's made a silk purse out of a sows ear!! Well done Mike Stevens your a ruddy marvel and worth your weight in gold....:);):):p

My farrier saved my horse's life.

When he was with previous owner, my horse had been front-end lame for months and the vet and his farrier at the time were baffled. Vet was on the verge of advising that my horse be PTS.

My farrier asked if he could try some corrective shoe'ing and shock absorbing pads on my horse's feet - he came right almost immediately and (touch wood) hasn't looked back.

I can put up with him being a grumpy old gossip because I feel he is nothing short of a miracle worker.

Here's to farriers!!
