... and she's only 5!

Lacey's had a holiday for nearly 3 weeks due to all the ice and today I got back on her for the first time. I prepared for the worst - neckstrap, BP etc.

So I get on, we plod around the arena, finally get going in trot and when it comes to canter I end up laughing so much that I end up riding like a rag doll :o . She would not work nicely and decided nose in the country impressions were the way to go.
Grabbed some trotting poles out, went over a few times (or should I say fell over :o ) and then finally got a really nice active, supple trot.

Anyone else’s horses think that they should be tucked up in bed in this cold weather and not made to do any work?

J was ridden for the first time in a week today (gentle hack round the fields mainly in walk) and then turned out all day in a field with plenty of grass. He came in, ate his dinner and then laid down for a little nap before tackling his haynet! He would retire tomorrow given the chance ;)
