Popped into local feed merchants and had a look around and saw that they had thoses nice horse licks in, thought "OOO... that will be nice for my horses to treat them with a lick each, as mid winter as they are spending lots of time indoors"
Er...... got down in morning to find no lick at ALL left and a green slime wiped up stable wall. Said 'toad' had destoryed and eaten his lick and smelt of a sweet, sickly, apple favour lick GRRRRRRRR........... so spent all of yesterday worried he'd get colic, thank god his fine......... And other horse was interested at all!!
You try your best, But ,lesson learnt - d'oh

I hang a lick in the stable away from the walls etc and my horse can still eat the whole thing within a few minutes !!!!!

Mine eat them within seconds, if he smell them he goes mad, he had 2 have the odd treat for such a short time he was better with the mineral lick but his face got covered was ok while on box rest

My horse was quite partial to the respiratory one. I let him have a good slurp but take it away as he would finish it in one sitting.

My boy is exactly the same with the respiratory horslyx, he wouldn't eat his hay or his tea if that was in his stable with him he would finish it in one sitting if given the chance.

I wish someone would come up with a lick/treat that lasts for a few days maybe that itsn't a salt lick. My boy devours the lickit ones in no time!!!!

Mine do that with likits. They go nuts over them and wont leave them alone until they're all gone. I stopped giving them to them in the end as they got really frustrated when I hung them up and they fought over it in the field!
