Yay - don't you just love it when you do something for the first time and it all goes well?!!
A week or so back, I read a post on here by Flibble about her successful day out at her friends house with her horse Drifter. It made me think that I should really make the effort to take Jerry over to my friend's house, she has been inviting me for ages!
Anyway - I was inspired by Flibble's post so I immediately sent my friend a text (before I could think about it too much!) to ask when would be convenient for her. We agreed on today!
Now you have to understand that I am not a very confident person so the thought of loading Jerry on my own - (I've only done a few trips in the trailer and always with someone else) - was filling me with dread - also knowing how exciting Jerry finds trips out was adding to my apprehension.
Anyway - I couldn't have wished for a better behaved horse. He loaded perfectly - after I had hitched the trailer on my own - no hitching mirror required!! I felt fine towing on my own, I just sang along to the radio

When we arrived at my friend's he came down the ramp so chilled out. I tacked him up then I went in her new menege - very smart! I had a little trot and canter then my friend's daughter came along, she had a little ride on Jerry, which was great because the only person to sit on him for the last two years has been me! I think he was quite shocked to have someone half my weight on his back.
Then I got back on him and my friend said she could put up a jump

I haven't jumped for over a year but I agreed so long as it was tiny!
She put up a little x-pole which we jumped 2 or 3 times - I loved it! Then she put it as a straight pole - about 2ft 6! Now I know that doesn't seem very high to you lot but it is the highest I have ever jumped on Jerry! He jumped it beautifully

.
After that my friend tacked up her horsey and we went for a little hack round the village - Jerry led all the way, past the roadworks and didn't put a foot wrong ALL day!
I put Jerry in my friend's paddock while we had some lunch then, when it was time to go home, I just called him and he walked straight to me.
I really love my horse

And thanks again Flibble and Drifter for inspiring me!

Yee Ha Good for you!! Now you have to plan your next trip.

I was hoping to hack out agaiin this week but for some reason unbeknown I decided to have 48 hour NSPD.

For all you lovers of abbreviations that is :

Non Specific Poorly Disease I doont know what it was but it was ll I could do to shovel the old SH1.

I am really really pleased that Drifter and I inspired you.

Oooh poor you - hope you feel better quickly!
Anyway - it was so good that I read your initial post and made that text to my friend there and then, I'm sure if I thought about it too much I would have made one of my excellent excuses why I couldn't possibly go!
The added bonus was the fact that I jumped

- I don't think I would have gone if I'd known!
Anyway I shall feel a little bit more confident now when I go to a little show at (a different) friend's farm on Sunday to do a Prelim dressage test. At least I will have my hubby with me on Sunday but I do now know that I can manage on my own if I have to!

Well done! As a fellow wimp i know exactly how you feel, I went to a job interview once and during the grilling I got asked what my proudest moment was, crumbs! I had no hesitation in telling them about the time I took my boy to the park in the trailer on my own! Its massive for people who aren't that confident so good on you. I got the job too so mrs interviewer obviously saw my pride!
