Jerry is now covered in bumps again

There are no mollasses in them so have no idea what it is. He doesnt seem bohered by them at all. I am now at a complete loss as to what to do next. I am quite tempted to carry on feeding the nuts and see if the bumps get worse or eventually go, what do you think?

Why is my horse so complicated?

Oh no!!

Could it be the protein level?

If he isn't bothered by the lumps then maybe carry on with them and just see if it's an initial reaction that will go with time?

Poor boy, must be a total nightmare to try to formulate a diet for

What are the sugar levels in grass nuts???

My mare is sugar and cereal intollerant and whilst I can manage her no problem all winter, with her grazing during the day and in at night (fed plenty of hay and Alfa A Oil). In the summer when the sugar level increase in the grass, she is impossible to manage (even on restricted grazing on a bald patch), she regularly gets bumps and almost contant diarrhoea.

Don't panic too much... Grace came back from Leahurst with horrendous lumps, and within a week they were more or less gone. When I brought her home I had to change her feed because she was refusing to eat the Healthy Hoof, so she went onto Alfa A. A day after changing it she came up in lumps, but I just carried on feeding it to her and they have now completely gone! Grace's seem to come up with any changes in her feed, regardless of how gradual it is (there is Alfa in the Healthy Hoof)... but by continuing feeding it, she seems to start handling it better and lumps have gone in just less than a week!

When I took Beau's rug off lastnight I noticed he now has lots of bumps on his body too

He is a poor doer and I think it could be protein levels, he gets alfaoil, topspec CC cubes, balancer, speedibeet, and recently Ive substantially increased his Linseed oil, so wondering if it could be the oil too.

Its hard knowing what to do though because with horses like Beau and Jerry its not like you can just stop feeding them or give them a diet foot, Beau is losing weight already but I darent feed him any more now.

Horses!!

I used to just continue doing whatever I was doing with Grace... her nickname is my little Gremlin because when she gets these lumps she reminds me of the gremlins when someone pours water on them!

Have you had him allergy tested? Sorry, havent read any of your other posts about this! But one of my horses itched every year (assumed it was SI) then suddenly broke out in a heap of lumps all over his chest and neck. Had him allergy tested and he's allergic to crazy things like most grasses, dustmites and hay moulds!! Id tried lots of things like changing feeds etc. thinking thats what was causing it but no!

If it is a protien allergy then it will take a little while for the bumps to go - plus any protien in the other feeds you have him on - even a tiny amount - will stop them going away...

I know I have said this before but speak to the Winergy people, we went through all the same stuff with our lad due to his delicate tum but its all ended since putting him on Winergy...
