Has anyone else seen the light?

Yes, I have also seen the light and brilliance of ponies!!

Congratulations on your recent conversion, my child!!!

I have a 16.3 Highland x who is my big pony and am a convert to ponies now.

Well done for admitting that you have been a 'big horse snob!'. When I had my 16hh horse, I found a lot of people would talk about their 17hh+ warmbloods in a superior tone!! After I lost Jake, I went looking for a 15.2hh fun horse but instead I ended up with a 17.1hh warmblood!
I hope I never suffer with big horse snobbery, and I hope someone would tell me if I did - my horse is the best thing ever, he is a dream come true but that is nothing to do with his size!

You have made me jealous. I have a 16.2 tb, who moans if it is to soft ground or too rough etc lol. (she has got better tho, coz she had to.)
I also have a 12.1 welsh sec a, who is sadly outgrown by my son. I have always wanted to ride him as he is the best fun pony ever. Full of character and bold as brass. Knows every pony club game like he invented them. Unfortunately I am 5'8 and 10 stone. I wish i could stretch him about 4 hands just for 1 summer.

I had a little 13.2 up until I was 35. He was ace, hunted from the front, jumped anything you put him at and was just all round good fun ......
BUT ...

I always felt envious of those on bigger beasts, so before pony was pts, I bought myself a 15.2 TBxW who get growing to 16.2. He was a super looking horse and was much admired but he was an absolute handful. My love of horses was severely tested by him.

When he was pts, my max height was 14.2, she's actually 14.3 but she is shaping up to be a nice pony. She's only 4 but has a good attitude and is just fun to ride.

I am no longer envious of horse owners, I love poines and nothing would persuade me to trade up.

I too am reformed! I didn't have any input in buying Scooby - the owner of the RS said she would buy something suitable for me to loan, but she had the needs of the RS in mind rather than what I wanted (quite rightly) and I was a bit disappointed when I found out he was only 14.2hh as the horse I'd been riding (and adoring) previously was 16.2hh - but Scoobs is such an awesome little man, I wouldn't change him for the world! He's a little pocket rocket, he'll be unstoppable once he's slim and fit! I'm proud to be a pony-squisher now.

I'm proud to be a pony-squisher now. Love it Charmaine18. That term is spot on.

Horses with brakes that are big enough to keep your feet from trailing on the ground are soooooooooooooo overated

GREAT you really made me laugh. I have had both from 14.3 to 17.3h and am hunting again. I do like racing around on ponies he he the other advantage is the ground is closer!!!!

However I am 5ft 6in and not skiiny (not fat either) and I do like to be on something a decent size for appearances too as it does make a difference when you are showing or doing DR

The one I tried today was 15.3h and perfect size for me

Wahey!
The biggest horse I've had was 14.3hh, but I recently got rid of her wanting something bigger to compete with & guess what I got! A small 14.1hh pony instead!
And he is fab, will jump anything & not knocked a single pole down since I've had him! (though he has refused a lot- haha).
Joey is fab!
And I am also a proud pony squisher!!
but I'm only 5'4 & just over 8 stone haha
x

I have always loved 14-14.2 ponys the more native the better however fate decided I should have a massive big thing. He would be my perfect horse if I could shrink him to 14 odd hands (he is long term loan)

My lad is around 18hh and i love everything about how big he is.... well apart from not being able to get on from the ground, or sit to his trot

I ride my mates 14.1 coblet and i just giggle all the time, he is so much fun and totally different
