I was very lucky, went three or four times. I used to go to Bush Farm near Saltash in Cornwall, I think my Dad picked it purely on cost as I do remember him asking how much it would be for cash!

Used to be about 10 girls, all roughing it in the bunk house, eating loads, riding miles every day, and learning the hard way (which meant falling off for me!). I was 11 the first time I went, I'd started riding when I was about 6 but only sporadically, so Bush was the first time I ever cantered, then galloped, rode in a big group, rode bare back, went swimming on horseback, did some XC jumping, and won a rosette (still have it!). I have fantastic memories of those holidays, I think what I learnt was how to have fun, my riding certainly didn't improve, I could just go faster!

Anyone else have fab hols like I did?

Me too - went a couple of times in pre-own pony days....full day rides in the forest with a pinic lunch, bareback riding, getting up early to muck out....

I was also RSN, we went for a day to the coast., loaded the ponies up and went on the beach...ended up on nudist beach, don't know who was most shocked, me, pony or naked couple eating their sandwiches!! ( is there still a nudist beach at Bridlington??!)

Ahh memories - Yorkshire riding centre for me, where I fell in love with the apoloosa I rode the first night, then promptly wasn't allowed to ride him again because he was too good

So I rode cheeky and novice ponies instead, and fell off for good measure! I always got put on the mad ones to hack out on, I remember one hack when the only way I could stop this chestnut called Max from our white knuckle canter down a steeeeeep hill was to turn him and jump up a massive bank to the side of us - and we survived! (Got off and led him for a while after that. I think that was the beginning of realising I have a hot seat!!). I distinctly remember asking on the last day to ride "just a quiet plod" - which I got

never did a riding holiday but at 17 i went to work on a campsite with it's own trekking ponies and never went home lol, spent from the beggining of one summer to the end of the next taking out treks

I used to go to Bush Farm too (run by the Renfrees)! It was a long time ago as I was in my teens then and I've hit my half century now.
