Before we start - Disclaimer - I am not trying to say whether any of the following is right or wrong, just wondering about peoples opinions.......
So today I was discussing with my friend about what feed mine and hers horses' are on during the winter, when Person X told us her 15 year old cob who lives out 24/7 does not get any hay in the field unless there is over a foot of snow.
Also said Cob doesnt get any feed other than his grass and a "bucket" of carrots.
I replied I couldnt feed one of mine carrots as he had severe laminitis and as carrots contain lots of sugars they were a no-go. X replied "carrots are mainly water and don't contain sugar!!!
Another Disclaimer - I am not saying person X is wrong or right!!!!!!!
Then X told me that she believes only natives should be allowed in Britain !!!!!
She also said TB's shouldnt have been created and breeds like Arabs shouldnt be here (even though Connemara and Welsh's have Arab descendants
??????)
She said it wasnt fair to bring Arabs here and it wasnt fair on them.
Then somehow we got onto riding................X said her pony only likes hacking, which is fair enough, but I asked her if she did any flatwork or jumping out of interest and was told that said Cob puts his ears back doing flatwork and she doesnt believe he should do it, or jumping, she said he cant jump - although I believe every horse can jump something, they have a natural ability to do so....
she said the cob had never been schooled in his life, however surely when he was broken in to be ridden they had to school him to get his canter balanced with a rider on etc, X replied "well how come ponies on the fell can canter balanced!" I tried to explain its different with a rider,
I was also told off for putting a rug on my wimpy TB X Appy as he should learn to survive without one!
