I think there was a discussion about how they're awarding the medals for dressage on some other thread and I suggested they are using the "old" system of starting fresh for the Freestyle used in 2004 but apparently they've gone BACK to using an average of the Special and the Freestyle. Much better system if you ask me!
BUT championships still award them as two separate classes, just to confuse things.
Argh. It's bad enough people just tuning in don't understand the sport but its pretty grim when they start confusing the people who are trying to pay attention!
I know they're trying to make if more fair and keep the IOC happy but honestly, I think sometimes the non-horsey people who run the show are trying to make it so confusing the equestrian events implode and they don't have to worry about them anymore.
Grr.
Anyway, now it counts that Satchmo won today.
