I posted on here on Thursday for someone to go to HOYS with me last night and LizzieJ replied and we met up and the night was well above my expectations
I bought the tickets on ebay and they were half way along ,3rd row back and £10 under face value. Claire had gone in with a friend and was in the grooms bit and was name dropping about who was sitting next to her. Then she text us that she was sitting next to Katie Price's groom and had been told that Katie was making a repeat performance later! I know someone who looks after her horse comes on here but not sure if it was her?
I loved the displays and the musical ride to Queen was fantastic ,Martin Clunes was talking to riders as they walked the course just in front of us .The show jumping was a pleasure to watch and what great horse there are around. The showing was beautiful but as usual the ponies are rather overweight but stunning.
Then it was the finally [ sp] and in rides Katie flanked by Andrew and Henry Boswell. I enjoyed it, she has improved a great deal and her seat is developing , her hands are unsteady and when she was supposed to be doing lateral work she wasn't but it was a good display, the other two horses [especially Henry's] were fabulous. She got a great cheer but there were some miserable s*ds near us who are obviously too good to enjoy it for what it was.
There was a queue a mile long to see her so it was popular.
Overall a great night, very spectacular but a bit drawn out at the end although it was great to see the old famous riders.
Just one sad point , Claire was teaching pony club B testers on Saturday and asked who Lee Pearson was and none of them knew but they all knew Katie was doing dressage at HOYS!
LizzieJ took some great pics so hope she gets time to post some soon , she was great company and hope to see her again soon.

Sounds like a fantastic night out. There's nothing like the atmosphere of a big show. Lucky you. I watched on TV and thought Katie Price was better than I expected her to be. Good on her, and yes Henry's horse looked fabulous.

I watched it on TV last night - I think she did quite well but am I the only one who thought her horse looked lame behind after the performance when she was walking around the collecting ring? My very non-horsey mother picked up on it too and she knows nothing about lameness!

No she didn't,I was not a fan of the hair either but I still enjoyed it , it was not really presented as dressage just ' a dream of a lifetime' [think]
It was entertainment and I expect she knows she has a long way to go, we hope to compete against her and in fact do not envy anyone so much in the public eye

see..i have the upmost respect for anyone who can get horses into the press again, in a good way.. and i personnally do like Katie!

But really! How long does it take to put a shirt on!!!

I don't mind Katie Price, but I wish she wouldn't get so much hype! Maddona didn't start aiming for the Olympic when she decided to get riding lessons!
She is at least trying to get better!

She was in a sort of costume as I said it was not dressage just a display which was entertaining , I am sure she wears correct attire for competitions and Blaze didn't even have a bling bridle.lol

Claire may have been sitting next to Fran, a friend of mine who was there looking after KP

Glad you had a good night, the final class was excellent, I watched it on TV

must have worn diffren than the first proformance then, she was in top hat and tail withno shirt in that one.

Yes she has a long way to go but then so do we all!

Madonna didnt aim for the olympics cause she had an appauling riding ability, no coordination or balence and fell off and broke her arm havein a trot.

She still had the top hat and tails , I just meant it was not made to look like normal dressage. Not explaining this very well. Never mind, I wish her all the best and think she will do well in years to come if she sticks at it.
Weezy , ask your friend if it was her, She asked Claire who she was grooming for and Claire said she was with a trade stand not a groom. Then they had a quick chat about Katie, it was about 8 o'clock

That may be, but KP has been riding since she was 7, I would expect her to have a semi decent seat by now! Madonna had been riding 5 mins!

I hope she does well, but I hope it's because she genuinally wants to do well, rather than sitting back and thinking now what will make me even more famous!

One thing is for sure, that horse is every little girl's dream horse!!

(Except mine, all I ever wanted was a fat hairy carthorse!!)

I know plenty of people who have been riding all their lives who would be pretty hopeless at dressage, and certainly couldn't pull one one time changes in that atmosphere. The whole thing was very entertaining. I loved Henry Boswell's horse.

The show jumping was amazing last night, in fact every class I wacthed all week was entertaining. And the showing was fantastic too. didnt follow some of the judges decisions but thats showing for you. The little Welsh A that won the cuddy was brilliant - god it moved! I do lvoe HOYS but I am knackered today. Need to get one of mine qualified for next year as I'd love to be a part of it from the inside

I thought the horse was not quite sound at points but in general thought Katie did OK! I had a great night with THE_carthorse, we got told off for gossiping too much though

I am uploading the pics at the moment, they're not great but will post them in a bit

Yes from that grumpy witch in front of us who never clapped Katie [ and some others] and if I wasn't a lady I would say more about her. Loved the couple next to us who gave a running commentary all the way through.lol

I dont mind Katie riding but she is only getting so much hype because she is already famous. Im sure there are many budding dressage stars who would have jumped at the chance to be at HOYS but were beaten by a celeb who looked stiff and rigid. Ok she did ok and her one time changes were good but IMHO i would rather have seen a young star in the making showing us there stuff in the arena. Katie did a good job and i cant take that away but like I said.... just because she is a celeb already!!

No wonder people were applauding!!!!

The performance last night was MILES better than the Friday one for sure!!

I knew something was missing from her attire and now I know what it was.

Ditto - I thought her horse looked lame coming out into the collecting ring too...............

KP did fab and coped extreemly well with her horse who was less than easy in that areana with the massive atmosphere...

ok so it was less than professional but she doesnt claim to be the best either so it matters not

I agree.
not a lot of talent but got a lot of money.
lets face it if we had that horse and all that training expertise that she has to hand we'd all be as good (or better ??)
i wonder how much riding she actually does as she seems to have a busy schedule.
makes you wonder who would've filled that spot if KP hadn't been there.

anyone else annoyed with the coverage of HOYS ? if you didn't have satellite all you saw was KP.
Christ there were more important things to see.
