i had owned my pony for 7 years, he was 19yrs young n fit as a fiddle when i put him out on full loan because i was supposed to be having a back operation, the people he went to seemed so nice. he sent me a letter telling me how well they were getting on, how cheeky my boy was etc, 3 weeks after that letter was sent we got a text saying that the vet had been to blackie, nothing to worry about n then we found out that he had a fractured pelvis, the story they told us was that he had fell on ice in the field?. we had to go down n i held my boy as he had to be put to sleep, the hardest decision of my life. that was 2 years ago n i still think about him everyday. the bit of the story that ive decided to leave till last is that the man never told us about the accident until 3 weeks later n the accident took place on the day before he wrote me that lovely letter!! if i was looking after someones horse i would ring them straight away, if it was my fault or not!! i miss you cheeky monkey xx

I have just found out about my first pony, its a tricky situ as he is in thailand, i sold him about 10 years ago to a lovely belgian family....but they moved on and left to at this lovely yard....next i here he has been sent to this HORRID family camp I was sent a of him about 3 yrs ago and i cried.....he was a fab pony we did an FEI dressage challenge and he came 2nd in thailand and 8th in asia.....i am just gutted about him...i moved back to england 7 years ago....my friend has jsut sent a vet on a mission to find him and she has....he is skin and bones so i am trying to buy him back and keep abroad....its a difficult situation and i will NEVER sell a horse again...my mare now is with me for life! and i will get Charlie back and make sure his final years/months are good.

XXHarleyXX I think you were lucky to be with him in the end, if it comes to that with my boy i hope to fly there and say goodbye.

I know the people who are helping to get him back care beautifully for their horses so he will hopefully have a bit of dignity in his last few days hopefully years.

when i went to see my boy, he lifted his head and looked at me with glazed eyes it looked like he was crying he then somehow got the the strength to get up and tried to barge through the stable door, its them little things that make me think was the vet right when she said he has to be put down, im glad i was there to hold him while it happened even though i still feel guity for putting him out on full loan but at least the last face he saw was mine, his mums the person that always tried to do the best for him even if i sometimes made stupid mistakes, i loved when he would give me kisses, when i used to lie on his back in the stable, how he looked after me the first time i ever jumped him , how he would always do his best for me but if anyone got on him who were abit to confident he would play up, and how i could put my little cousin on and he knew that he had to look after her. i miss him so much. i know hes in a better place looking down on me and my new horse harley, i decided to get a foal, hes now 17 nearly 18months old. i got blackie of a girl i think she had owned him for about 3 years but i just wish that i could of found out more about his life before he went to her, ive put an ad on horse trace but had nothing back yet. i think all horse owners should keep in touch with previous owners etc, its just nice to find out about your horses past, or find out how there doing with there new owners. we once had a horse and my mum had to sell him, my mum said to them that if they decide to sell him could she have first refusal, about 6months later we found out that they had sold him on, we managed to find out where he had gone and we were glad to see that he had gone to a lovely family, my mum was abit upset that she didnt have the chance to buy him back but he had gone to a really good home and they keep in touch now and then with us which is nice.

xx
