Am looking at my next horse and would really love a Lusitano (or Andalusian), probably part bred since they're generally cheaper. Pures seem ridiculous money still and I would not have a big budget. Having got a Lusitano x TB, I seem to click with this sort of sensitive ned (much prefer them to WB's etc.!). Can anyone advise of any yards etc. who sell "cheaper" ones? I dont want rubbish of course, but I dont want an all singing all dancing dressagey-fancy-one. Ideally a 4/5yo, would back if necessary. Looking to jump so would want a more sporty type. Might consider one someone is having issues with (since there seems to be quite a few people who struggle with them!). Where do I look though? They're such a unique breed, I can't find any (that aren't stupid money) on the regular horse sale sites. Are there any specific sites??

i could find you one abroad fairly easily but over here its quite difficult... would be a case of trawling through the internet... although there is usually a good reason as to why they are so cheap!

found a lusitano x cob for £650 but i dont think it will be much of a jumper ;)

Saw a PRE x Welsh D on preloved a couple of days ago. I know to some, but none that are 4/5yo or particularly cheap.

I have two PRE's, one stallion and one gelding. My advice would be to save up more and get a decent one, otherwise you might get a problem child! (as they are easily messed up from inexperenced people not used to the breed).

My gelding (purebred PRE) I am going to put out on loan if you are intereted PM me. He is not a jumper though. But champion in hand showing and novice level DR at present always in high 60's/70's placed every outing. He is sporty functional type.

It's a myth Iberians don't jump... Just that many are bought for dressage than for jumping so not many about. Purebreds are not more expensive. I know a few purebreds of that age looking for homes at reasonable prices! Pm me if interested. These are British bred so no importation or faffing about. Live out 24/7. Good champion bloodlines.

I second the recommendation re James and Emma at Esperanza. They backed my youngster (Selle Francais x Lusitano, out of Novilheiro) and he's going to return there early next year to continue his training. He's currently standing at 16.2 but he's not for sale. Really trust their judgement and skill. Lovely people too

Just watched the video - can't tell if it's got a problem with its back or is just being ridden appallingly

Magic melon, if you want specific sites, go to www.bapsh.co.uk for breeders websites. There will be 3-4 yr old stock going as breeders make room for this years foals. I don't know the Lusitano breed web page but they will have similar.

Look on the bapsh website, not all are expensive, there are cheaper ones available, prices have reduced a lot recently, think there was one for loan too, but may have got a home now. Where abouts are you? I know a breader who had some youngstock for sale for not too much money, she' in shropshire but easy to get too. She doesnt advertise much so tends to hang onto the a bit longer than most studs, but will sell for reasonable prices, depends what you call cheap? They will always fetch more than your typical meat money but no more than a good average horse. Buying from spain doesnt always mean getting one cheaper, it cost a fair bit to ship over, i did this with my 7 year old as a weanling, but prices and for the most part uk quality and choice has improved tremendously, you just need to look, try the website the horses change frequently especially this time of year. Best of luck and pm me if you would like details of the lady in shrewsbury.

I have an andy x luso x connie. He's 15.1 and nice enough. I didn't pay great deal for him as a 9 year old. He's a good allrounder but with a better rider does well in dressage. He has a cracking jump though he's not the fastest against the clock. There are a few of his relatives about, they have the stud name Capriole and are bred by a lady called Mary Deacon from Worcester. I don't know if she still breeds them but mine is a nice type and certainly looks Iberian but is a bit more forgiving due to the connie in him!!! One of his relatives does BE90 and one does endurance.
My friend has an andy x wb and she is a nice type too, a bit bigger at about 16hh. Not sure where she was bred though.

Contact PRE breeders on the BAPSH website as someone said. We tend not to be so good at updating our websites! I have a mare I'm thinking of selling, but haven't got around to advertising yet.
