I have ridden in Iceland several times and have an Icelandic. The bits with the long shanks are very severe and only used in Iceland by experienced riders. Most people in this country ride their Icelandics in ordinary loose ring snaffles. Icelandic riders have kind hands and whenever I have been there, they regard English riders as being heavyhanded. The whole culture of horseriding and horses is very different in Iceland. Can I ask why you are interested?
