Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me. I'm looking to possibly have some lessons or hacking on an Icelandic horse. They seem pretty thin on the ground here in the UK especially in my area. I've found several places in Scotland, Wales, Cumbria and Wiltshire but was wondering if anyone knew of any in either Yorkshire or the South East close to London. I've contacted the Icelandic Society of GB and am awaiting a response but just thought I'd ask on here too. Just been to Iceland for a weeks riding holiday and now want another go!

Many Thanks.

Hi - I've been to Iceland several times and got so taken with Icelandics, that I came back and bought one! There are only two Icelandic trekking centres - Pentland Hills and the other even further north. The other places you mention all sell Icelandics, rather than have them available just to be ridden. There is someone in Norfolk that has about 12 of them, but these are privately owned. Perhaps you should plan on a trip to Pentland Hills? The grey in my signature is my Icelandic btw

Thanks for all your suggestions, I can feel a phone call to any Scottish friends I have coming on! I really think I have the most expensive taste possible; horses as a hobby and Iceland as a holiday destination. And to top it off I'm about to move to London for work, maybe I need to concentrate on finding any horse I can get to from South West London on public transport! Have to say I was so impressed with the Icelandic horses, I've always liked native ponies but these guys were ace! JayCeeLen your horse looks lovely, have you ridden in different areas of Iceland? I was in the north near Lake Mytvn and rode over loads of different terrain, it was amazing!
