I got a rather worrying text this afternoon. Turns out my silly horse had tried to scratch his face on the wall of his stable and caught his eye on one of the hooks for cross-tying :(

Poor boy has a rather swollen eye at the moment.
Obviously I don't want it happening again so I'm going to put padding over it.

I was thinking a gamgee pad?

maltesers anyone? :)

aww poor boy :(. Couldn't you just take the hook down? Mine would just chew the gamgee out of curiosity and then they could end up with a worse injury....

Some sort of rubber cover would be good... maybe the pipe insulation??

eta - or just gamgee and lots and lots of tape!!

hmm maltesers... Im never going be skinny if I carry on accepting virtual calories!!! :O

the hook is built into the wall but sticks out - like they put the wall up and sort of added a wee curved bit so you can clip a rope onto it.

If only it were that easy :D

I was going to suggest pipe insulation too

If the hook is out of the way of your working area then something like this could be good and would mean the hook could be used very easily still as the cover just dangles when not in use

ooh that could work. I wonder how soft it is?
Also wondering if it would hold up to him trying to scratch on it because he is the sort of numpty that would try

I have one, its pretty rigid, not very thick but the shape helps keep some strength in it

The toggle thingy makes it fit tightly to the wall so its quite hard to wobble

B&Q have them in stock if you want to see one up close

I can supply the dimensions if it helps you decide if it will fit the space

I have a B&Q pretty much right outside my front door - I might pop down tomorrow :D

Thanks for your suggestion - he was feeling pretty sorry for himself when I popped in to check on him after work
