Idea on stopping her rushing into trot

Scarlett tends to jump forward into trot and rush off and not listen for the first few minutes, she does settle down after a bit, but this initial leaping into trot is starting to unsettle my daughter, which in turn makes Scarlett tense.

We will be getting an instructor out to give them lessons, but does anyone have any exercises they can work on to help? Back/mouth etc are fine.
