Ideal Event Saddles - Any Good?

I had one for my old horse which I found lovely - comfortable for all disciplines. I regret selling it with the horse as it is a lovely hacking saddle. When I tried several for jumping this was the best as I had a very pingy horse, and most proper jump saddles sent me flying out of the saddle and were difficult to sit in.

I think they are a good compromise if you can only have one, and they are generally quite well priced and easy to resell.

YES !!! They are fantastic :) Very comfortable and very secure, good quality and reasonably priced. I am long from my hip to my knee so i think they suit tall people well. I am about to buy another one so that says it all really :)

My Ideal is not an event saddle, more of a GP however its still a fantastic saddle for jumping in, really gives you a secure seat, its one of those saddles you'd never want to part with, I just wish it fit every horse I rode, I'd certainly have another Ideal saddle...if I could afford to buy one each time I needed to change.

Sorry it is the event saddle, its the International model, probably explains why its a good saddle for jumping in

Great, thanks everyone! I've had a Falcon Hawk Event before but not an ideal. Our new mare needs a saddle and I don't want to pay a fortune but like Quadro son is long in the thigh (lucky him!) and needs a saddle that will accommodate his leg.

The Ideal patriot is a FAB event saddle and will suit your son if he has long legs it is about £1200-1300 but accomadate a man easily (i have a 17.5 and my 6ft boyfriend can ride/jump in it fine). Although it is an event saddle i SJ and find it perfect for my needs! Hope that helps!

Conversely i am a shorty (5'3) and I adore this saddle!

I use it for everything and will do until I can afford a dr saddle. Saddler said it's totally fine for hacking in as it was made to measure.

My mare can be wimpy XC and puts in the odd sharp stop once the fences get bigger but the patriot really makes me secure!
Infact the only time I have fallen off in the past year was a few weeks ago and I nearly didn't and landed on my feet lol.
