Hi there. I hope someone can help. I currently have a fifteen year old ideal international event saddle and I am looking to replace it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me please, are they still the same? Do they feel the same to ride in? I know I can trial one from my saddler but 8 weeks is a long time to wait for a saddle that might not be suitable. Oh and if anyone has a 17.5 wide that they're trying to sell, let me know!

Other than that, can anyone recommend any deep seated GP saddles with knee and thigh rolls that are very comfy?! If anyone has such a saddle they are selling please let me know.

So far I have tried three saddles, and I haven't liked one. :( Not as much as my old Ideal anyway!

Thanks alot

Falcon hawk! The most comfortable saddle I have ever park my bum in! Both of mine have one each and I also have a falcon dressage saddle too!

I had a falcon hawk event but personally I find it very bulky and j couldn't feel the horse at all

It also felt like I was sat miles away from the horse

I have a monoflap ideal impala pro now

Although as you want GP ideal make an international event like ye falcon hawk event

I will be honest and say I haven't ever ridden in one but they look comfy !

Anyone? I know this is an old post of mine but I'm still wanting to know if the ideal international event has changed much over the last decade! And I'm still looking for one too :)

Hi there,

I had an Ideal VSD made to measure for my old horse (it cost me £575 so that shows you how long ago it was). I Used it virtually daily for years and when I bought my current horse in 2007 I had the same saddle adjusted to fit her. Last year it was stolen (even though it was stamped, engraved and microchipped! :( ) so I found a 2 year old international event saddle on ebay. I am fortunate that my current horse has a very standard shape back. (And yes, I have had the saddle checked that it fits by my saddler,) She doesn't have a standard shape head though, I have had to have a bridle made to measure!

Anyway, my new International Event is the same as my old Ideal VSD as far as I can tell. The one that was stolen had a schrumpf seat and knee rolls, the new one does not. But both very comfy. I also have the Ideal Jessica dressage saddle which is very nice too.

The middle saddle, Comfort Discovery -

would be very comfortable - I used to fit them (when they and NP were part of the same company, the same lady designed both ranges) and can say it would be good for a flattish back (not REALLY flat) with some shape to the wither, if that helps! At NP we pride ourselves on our saddles being comfy and have three models of GP depending on your preferences and your horse's shape.
