Hi I have an ideal saddle I want to sell. It's in fairly good condition but although I know and have measured it to be a 17.5 inch I have no idea how to measure the width !!

I'm asking £270 ono I have looked a others on preloved & EBay and it seems to be the going rate for this type of aged, conditioned saddle

How do I obtain the width please?

Can you see anything stamped into the leather under where the girth straps rest?

Does your Ideal have metal or green studs and which model is it?

hi
it has green studs, I cannot see anything anywhere, i'm having the saddler out this week, I will ask her as I cant really advertise it not knowing the width! thanks

Ideal saddles usually sell very well, the green studs indicate the more recent models. Buyers always seem to want to know the D to D measurement, so I would include a photograph of the front of the saddle, with a tape measure across from D ring to D ring, then buyers can judge for themselves. Good luck.

Any wooden treed saddle can actually be adjusted a little so don't trust the stirrup bar stamp, as hayinamanger says, include a photo of the front of the saddle with a measure held across.
