With the wind picking up and the weather getting rubbish I feel a bit sorry for the boys so am trying to come up with a field shelter on a tight budget.

Would a old marquee work?
Treated wood/fence panels fixed together?

Any other thoughts/ideas and piccies please?? :D

Have seen folks use large straw bales or fencing in a 'mercedes' as wind break.

Three arms at 120 degrees so looks like the mercedes car badge if you know what I mean

Hubby (a builder) reckons a decent wooden frame with a tin sheet roof and fill the sides with pallets.

Such a professional

Tin sheets aka galvanised corrugated sheets cost around £13 for 2mx1m strips. Don't know about the wood. Guess it depends on how big you want to make it.
