ideas for fast growing hedge in wet area.

We planted a mix of hawthorn and Rosa rugosa three years ago and they have made a huge difference to a very wet corner. They are pretty robust and most have even survived the sheep!
 
We used quick thorn, I have no idea if it is a real plant though! You buy hedge plants from tree nurseries I think

But you'd probably need to lay it. Also, choose the species carefully. There are some that have a very profilic growth and if laid would form a very dense hedge quite quickly. It can also be propogated from cuttings, so push the clippings into the ground and most will grow.
