lol! love it, quite easy too!
But am looking for something fun and scary for a 4yr old - was thinking maybe a ghost as pony is dapple grey

how about dressing them in their pony club gear and putting fake blood all down the front?

I suppose it would be a bit of challenge passing a four year old on a grey pony off as the headless horseman from sleepy hollow.
What about.....dressing your daughter up as the grim reaper in a black hoody and black jodhs with a skeleton mask whilst carrying that thingy what the grim reaper carries in one hand and say a bloodied dolls head in the other.
And then decking the pony out in wings with a sort of like horn strapped to his head covered in blood or if you can't get hold of any blood, tomato sauce will do to make it look like he is the grim reapers sinister steed who carries him and his victims to the otherworld.

ooo, like the grim reaper idea!! i got a good prise for going as the devil.. devil horns on top of riding hat, slipping some more devil horns on the pony, attatching it by the brow band, getting a stencil and spraying a 666 on the pony's bum.. was great fun! also went as a knight once.. tin foil and a feather on top of my riding hat, silver mask, feathers stuck on the head piece of the bridle, and a wooden sword. that one was harder to pull off.. have fun! x

Beware of folk asking you ....."oh look the pony has cut his knees" if you are going to use fake blood .

My daughter and I dressed up for our Halloween ride last year - daughter did some amazing make up with lots of translucent green paint, and black round her eyes and lips, it was brilliant. The ponies had black and green tinsel covered with little bats on their reins, stirrups etc, and we had HUGE witches hats on top of our riding hats, and giant bat wings on our backs ..... all was fine until we went to have a little gallop up a hill, with me on the "spooky one" and my hat took off backwards through the sheer speed I was going (!) so the elastic was strangling me, and my bat wings started flapping like crazy which sent the poor pony into orbit - I nearly fell off I was laughing so much.
It was brilliant fun, and made a lot of dog walkers look twice.
