I'm currently ensconsed in plaster on my right arm and yes I am right handed and getting very very bored! In fact thats not true, I'm really really really bored!!
Currently spending time either watching TV or on ye olde computer, has anyone got any good ideas as to other things to do?
I'm getting a little bored of trawling the net and 'buying' myself another horse, a house, a horsebox and various expensive horsey goodies and having no money is, sort of, killing the fun!
Help me I'm sinking!!

PS The horrid plaster is on until the end of the year!!!

I'm in the same boat! Right shoulder popped out and back in, left a hole, 3 weeks of pretty much not moving my arm and I'm right handed too! Have you tried to eat soup/cereal with your left hand yet? Thats quite entertaining :p

Ha ha, my plaster is up to my elbow and when I try to eat cereal with a spoon I can't reach the spoon and by the time I've chased the ruddy thing around all the cereal has dropped off, living the dream!
Mmm, tack cleaning not sure well actually I have to admit to being a complete saddo and I bought all of my tack home and cleaned and oiled it prior to surgery, probably the first time in my life all my tack is clean!
I did try to paint my nails to match my plaster however failed miserably when it came to painting left paw, even bought some glue to decorate my plaster with a bit of glitter, which promtly went everywhere but the plaster, nose, eyebrows, teeth (wtf!).

Oh no I really feel for you! It would be driving me crazy! Get some friends round to cheer you up! Do your christmas shopping (online), watch some films, drink lots of wine! Go and have some bonding time with your horse, grooming and cuddles!

Hmm I don't know what else, think I'd be going insane with boredom too!!

Last time I was in that situation I developed an unpleasant secret passion for judge Judy and ,hangs heads in shame , Jeremy Kyle .
I also started collecting pieces of old china on eBay good fun and I have quite a lot now.
Along with learning to make taking a shower take over an hour becoming an expert on current affairs and reading loads of trashy novels time passed ( 6 months mainly in bed)and you come though it . Soon it will be over everyday over is a day nearer to getting back to normal .
Good luck

jeremy kyle, jigsaws, reading the argos catalogue, xmas shopping online, this morning, writing xmas cards and wrapping presents early.... I am pregnant so when I get REALLY bored sitting my iphone on my bump to see which songs baby dances to!

I'm an invalid at the moment too but refuse to watch rubbish day time tv. I've taken to watching old black and white movies, period dramas, father ted, monty python, blackadder, cross stitching (Gran's going to love her christmas present this year!), playing with the dog and doing the accounts for the local rugby club. I really don't understand how people cope mentally with being unemployed - this is bad enough!

Hope your cast gets off soon - I found knitting needles particulary useful for scratching!

Currently unemployed and there is only so much day time TV - and I also have Sky TV - that you can handle, ditto computer games too.

No money to do anything as every cent goes to keep the grazing fees paid. Thank heavens I have Clydies and Clydie x's they live on fresh air. At least I can play with them for part of the day, the rest is spent job hunting - not easy and the companies you apply to cannot even be polite enough to thank you for your application if you are not going to get an interview.

Make crazy Xmas cards with glitter and stuff - improve your writing skills with your left hand. Make Xmas goodies - for presents. I kept Pringle containers one year, covered them in shiny paper and then made shortbread biscuits to put in them. You can decorate with chocolate buttons or Glace cherries, they make great pressies.

What about asking friends for any horse related DVDs? Especially schooling ones. You can use the time to brush up virtually on your riding.
Then start to put a plan together for your recovery - strengthening your arm ready for you getting back on your horse. Hmm, sounds like the start of another thread, but I'll leave that one to you :-)
Get well soon

I'm in a similar situation. In bed for 2 weeks, unable to walk for another 11.

Have you been on 'Howrse' website. It's a computer game thing where you can breed horses and start up an equestrian centre. Wastes at least an hour a day for me. Blimey, I'm a loser!
