Does anyone have any tips or ideas for schooling exercises that can be done in hand? My new yard doesn't allow lunging in the arena and there's nowhere else to do it, and I have no saddle and a young, very bored little horse to work. She goes for walks, happily wears a saddle and bridle and is at the point where she should be lunging. So any suggestions of other things we can do on the ground?

Long reining? [Sorry for obvious!]

Plus teaching lateral movement in hand - side pass, shoulder-in, backing up, bombproofing things etc.

My lad's doing all of the above plus learning stunts, Spanish walk, lying down etc.

Problem with long reining is I would want to get her lunging first, then introduce a second rein gradually - she's lovely but very sharp and I'm better with just the one rein! I may have to give it a go though - we are both getting super bored.
