My horse recently struck into himself at mattingley on the xc,had the n.e.w boots with tendon protectors just wondered if there were any better boots anyone would recommend? lt left a very nasty bruise

I love Clarendon boots.I was thinking of getting the N.E.W boots but i dont think i will now!.

Why what happened to the NEW boots - surey he didn't go into himself through the boot? I would have thought they were one of the best there is.

I use the NEW performance boots and also have the Style boots, both are really good and give me piece of mind their tendons are protected. I used to use Clarendons until i had a lesson with Lucinda Green. She told me the horses hind toe would go straight through a Clarendon as there are no tendon guard in them. I then changed to the NEW ones.

Don't forget though that boots aren't going to stop a horse hurting himself altogether, but they may stop an injury being so serious. It could have been that without boots your horse would have totally ruined his legs, but with them he is only bruised. Just a thought before you start spending money on other XC boots!
Prolite are meant to be about the best there are when it comes to XC protection. The Dalmar ones, although expensive, are absolutely solid so assuming they fit a specific horse I reckon they would be good too (plus they are air-cooled as well).

I think Prolite are the best of the bunch. The Dalmar ones seem to be great but a horse I ride has got some hind ones and they always slip round. I was thinking of getting some some but I've gone off the idea now.

I had the same problem using NEW boots. Now have clarendon three day event boots, thicker than the event/hunter boots. Put feet in fence at Mattingley - no bruising to legs!

Agree re. the Clarendon ones, IMO just too flimsy and no tendon guards. Style are almost too solid and dont fit every horse, they can rub quite badly. I Love my Prolite boots though, the tendon guards are fab, trust them 100%, fit well and never move.

Equiflect boots are v similar to prolites, and I find them v good. Tough and have a really solid tendon protector which is in 3 sections to bends round the leg.

Love the dalmar racing or eventer front boots. The hind boots are ok if they fit but are awkward to do up and don't fit many horses. The prolite ones also seem do as do the style. Wouldn't touch one without a solid tendon guard.
