I've just bought a horse, havent had one for 5 years. My fiance hasn't done the horse thing before, but he really wants to learn to ride so that we can ride together! This is GREAT and I'm really pleased.
Its his birthday coming up and he's asked for riding boots and jods. BUT, he doesnt really want 'shiny boots' as he calls them, or tight fitting jods, as he thinks he has skinny legs and he says he'd look like a 'horse riding emo'! Haha!

So.....any ideas on good boots for men, and where can I get my hands on some form of jods that arent tight fitting, maybe a jeans style type thing?
I was thinking of a mucker style boot, but I'm never sure if you are supposed to ride in them!

Thanks!!

Breeches are more flattering tbh, especially the ones with the pleats at the waistband.

Mark Todd do a nice range.

Most bootmakers do a more casual range amongst the shiny ones :p What about going for short boots and chaps? They look smart but a little more casual, and more comfortable.

My OH has mark todd breeches and ariat boots and half chaps, they seem to be the best fit

I second the Mark Todd - very flattering! - definately pleated tops. Skinny jods are only a good look if your male if your less than 8 years of age! The Auckland ones are really good cut.
