Ok, so he isnt actually a loon but he is rather fresh right now.
as i want to keep his weight down and him fit, he is on 10kg of forage (half hay, half haylage) and no hard feed for now. he gets a carrot/apple/healthy treat a day too.
he is in work 6days a week (for the last two weeks) was 4/5days per week previously and is usually 1 or 2 days lunging, 1 day hacking, 1 jump and the other days are schooling.
He is so fresh at the moment though, he is on 24hr turn out and this morning he was broncing around his field, leaping about and being a twit.
yesterday i went to get on and just about managed it before he went off cantering around and around the school with a few bucks added in (all whilst i was minus a stirrup and with a loose girth!) although we werent bombing around i couldnt get him to trot or walk. After a little while he settled and worked well so i could finally go on the nice plod around the woods like i planned.
Today i lunged before riding, got on and had to trot for a while until he would finally walk and then went on another nice plod.
his saddle isnt the best fit and saddler is coming on thursday but even so this seems like he has an awful lot of energy! He has a day off tomorrow but may be ridden by a friend on tuesday as i have uni.
Btw, he is, rising 6, NF gelding, broken
in last summer.
Any ideas? Do you think maybe he is in too much work? He is happy and healthy otherwise (still a little porky but otherwise healthy)
