I have a two year old ( a recent purchase) and I would like her to have the best start.
Question is what saddle would be the best when I start her? Asking now so I can plan ahead and save up!!

pros and cons of all saddles please so I can make an informed opinion (its seems to me to be a minefield)

here is a picture of her so you get an idea of her build. she is 2yrs old so got some growing to do

Balance saddles are just awesome, I'm a total convert. They're designed to give the horse the most freedom of movement possible. I was a bit skeptical until I saw them fitted- the horses went from a normal saddle (well fitted) to a Balance and their demeanor totally changed- you could practically see the relief in their faces! Plus their movement totally altered. It's also fascinating because they have different types of flocking- flocking, foam and a mix off both, and the horses choose which they prefer- honestly! Tbh I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it, and it makes me feel awful for having put any other saddle on our horses.

Another advantage is that they're designed to be padded out, and as the horse's back develops you remove the pads until the saddle fits perfectly, so there's less worry about a youngster 'outgrowing' a saddle and having to replace it. They also have a reallygood resale value.

Anyway, if you're interested, here's the link-

If you get a saddle fitter out, you could try a Wintec. They may or may not fit, but if they do fit, they are a great saddle for young horses because you can change the width as they grow.
