Hey everyone,
My horse is on diy livery on a small yard.

Soon they will be coming in at night. They will all go out in the morning. I am the only person on DIY the rest are all full livery. In the morning I would be wanting to go up around 7:30am to put her out however YO doesnt put the rest out til around 9am. I cant put my horse out alone or they will freak so it looks like i will have to either
a) put them all out at this time- or they will be banging and neighing etc - which i dont think i have time for OR
b) pay staff to put her out

which i am a bit miffed about, any ideas?

Why not ask the YO if you can put just one other out with yours in the morning ie her neighbour?.. I'm always first up in the morning 6.30am she goes out on her own till others get there... initally she shouts for like 5 mins then she is fine.. i always tell her that her friends will be there soon and promise her she wont be on her own... lol like she really understands.. but it makes me feel better about leaving her... sorry i cant really be of any more help

Yeah I did think about this, I think I will ask if i can turn one of the others out with her. That would be fine for me, the only problem is some days I'd be relying on my OH doing it and he's confident with my mare but not other horses..... but hey I cant have everything lol

Maybe have another who can go out with yours but pay the yard on the days you would need your OH to do it. Then you can keep costs down a bit.

Yeah thanks, i feel like such a fuss pot - other problem is bringing her in again.... they come in at 2pm when we are both working- i feel full livery and overdrafts coming on again eeekk

this is how yards make their money, people say "its only a couple of quid" but every day with turn out / bring in costs escalate the bill. i would ask to put one other out with yours, find the owner that might like to save themselves the money if you put theirs out for free and its helping you out at the same time. mine has been going out on his own a bit more often this past couple of weeks and he calls but i refuse to get stuck into a situation whereby he dictates. i know if he calls wholeheartedly the yo puts hers straight out with him so i have learnt not to fret as much but it takes time to relax into it. this also applies when riding, he will call to start with but once we are out he knows what is expected and i tell him that he is not missing out on anything and theyre probably envious that he gets to go out everyday, of course he understands this snippet of advice!
