Ideas/suggestions of how to get hay and feed to the field, please

I can get the wheelbarrow so far, but then have to hump it the rest of the way

What brilliant ideas having you peeps found to make some sort of make do sledge?

tarpaulin, in this weather. just drag it. easy. works on mud too, and you can drag a lot more than you can carry! or, big plastic bags if you don't have a tarp...!

one tonne bags from builder merchant, very robust and come with handles! they only about £10

Thats what we use and it just slides easily across all the snow/ ice.

Makes a good sledge too for any hills on the way back!

we use tarpalin, although having gone up the yard for the first time this week, the lady that owns the yard must've been putting it in a bed sheet as there was one on top of the hay. lol

LOL sadly or gladly no hills at the stables, but plenty to drive back up and down

large builders delivery bags..the ones that B&Q deliver sand in.

They are excelent, hold around 2 small hay bales each time, and easy to pull because they have sewn-in handles!
They just slide effortlessly over the ice and snow.

I agree with the Tonne bag, we have a couple and they are great for loads of things. You dont even have to pay for them if you smile nicely at the chaps in the builders merchants.

Alternatively how about making a series of carts using large plastic washing baskets? with 3 in front 2 behind then 1 behind that, All tied with string. Good for carrying buckets of food and water to the field.

I ONLY have 4 of those, as I use them to empty the beds from the stables, when I pressure wash them each year ..... duh I am so stupid at times
