"Identification of a novel missense variant in SLC45A2 associated with dilute snowdrop phenotype in Gypsy horses"

Preprint (nov 2019) describes it as a 'new' phenotypic variant - do you have a link to the one you mean by 'recently found' one please?
It's discrete from the one found at the same time as SW5. (sunshine)

I know its different from sunshine. My friend owns the stallion sunshine was found in. That must have been 2yrs ago now as he's got yearlings on the ground and I remember waiting for the foals to see what happened with them.

The genetics groups were talking about snowdrop not so long ago, given this was Nov 19 I imagine its the same one.

Hi all
I’m the owner of the snowdrop filly. The gene was named after her.
she is genetically black but appears double dilute... but has no dilutions.
her sire and dam are also carriers and both passed a copy for her to be a double carrier. Her sire is Mister Winters from the Cardyke Cobs stud based in Peterborough.
feel free to find us in fb as she has a whole album!
I’m still wondering if I’d be able to enter her in the blacks, bays and chestnuts classes? ??
