When cash has his first he was straight to the vet who said they were idiopathic most likely and therefore no known cause or treatment. he may never have one again or he may have them more regularly! That was December and he had his second last night. Vet said they would only investigate further if they were regularl or prolonged which they are not! I am hoping it is nothing more sinister!
well, in the case of my dog she's stable and I've only been aware she may have had one seizure in the two month's I've had her (it was the middle of the night, not 100% she did have one but it seems likely). she did have them regularly at one point at the start and wasn't very stable on her last medication.
she's on phenobarb now twice a day and I just have to watch her food intake. so its not all bad news even if they do have to have medication.
My gsd has them, usually late at night or in the middle of the night. She's had about six so far. She's nearly nine and on no treatment as yet as they are not regular.
It's very scary though when it happens.
I just try to keep her calm.
