Any else had a dog who has had this?

Our collie had an episode almost a year ago to the day and has been fine.............. until this morning. He has had another mild episode, not as bad as before, just very wobbly on his legs. The first time, he couldn't get up or down and had to be lifted everywhere for a few days, not this time. I was in two minds about taking him to the vet and havent' done as yet, mainly as 1) he hates them and gets very stressed (no idea why but has always been like this) 2) when he had his first episode they said there wasn't anything they could give him and he just needed rest and time - I can't see the point is upsetting him only for them to say the same this time? Am I wrong?

I think in general there is not a great deal of treatment that prove to be beneficial as you see vast improvement shortly after the episodes unless something more serious. My client dogs suffered this way and was given this diagnosis and funnily enough he was a collie. The only meds ever prescribed where vivitonin which did help for a good period of time.
