Theresa F ahs kindly explained how i would have to plait hovis' tail if i want to take him to a ridden heavy horse show at the end of the month.
But because I am a) blonde b) old and c) thick, I am struggling to imagine what it should look like.
i don't suppose anyone has or can find me a photo of a heavy horse tailed plaited and bound up?
thanks - cake and champers for the first person to find me a good one!

First tail is lovely and I would love to be able to plait up like that.

On the second link scroll down to the plaiting blog - this is what I (try) do with Farra but I only use two ribbons threaded at the top - she has red and green. My problem is that her tail is long (Andy likes it like that) and very very thick, so I have to double the plait again so not as neat but I am working on it.

Basically french plait to the end of the dock and then a normal plait to the end, which is then folded up, but I have to do two folds due to the length and I use boot laces to keep in place and then sew in.

As he is part bred, you may get away with the tail long if they run part bred classes, but Farra being a registered pure bred should be shown with her tail up.

Or give Matthew Burks a call - he is up your way and he could show you how to do him properly - he is an expert on shires and clydesdale showing. Wish he was closer to me or I would have a lesson with him.
