to run alongside Billy next year while I bring him on. Would want a schoolmistress to event around 12 that could run for a year or so and then breed from. Breeding has been a long term ambition. I completely have my eyes open and know the costs and risks but a good friend is also keen so we have been thinking about it and she has the facilities.

Find a mare who just sounds perfect - 12 years, 16.3 (I like bigger horses) good breeding, good event record. Not much money as has sweet itch - and while this absolutely should have no logical bearing on my choice whatsoever, looks remarkably like my old event mare. (Currently semi retired!). We wanted a mare that was proven for future breeding not just good blood lines.

But she is 4 hours away. Obviously not meant to be then! Chester is possibly a little too far. Think I will take that as a sign then!

ah.. didn't know that. So much for doing my homework!

Very relaxed about it. If a mare comes along like my previous mare did then fine, if not, not a problem. Shame my mare isn't younger (she's 22) as she definately ticked all of our boxes but at the time, having worked out (carefully) all the costings I could not do it.

post a thread in breeding, someone may know of something. But agree sweetitch is believed to be hereditary, so would definately advise against breeding from a mare with it. Good luck though, I bred my own and he's amazin!
